Malta Dynamics Vertical Lifeline Assembly (VLA)
A Vertical Lifeline Assembly (VLA) is a complete connector kit for fall protection, consisting of high-strength poly-rope with a self-locking snap hook and a rope grab positioning device. It is typically used in applications such as roofing, ladder climbing, general construction, and tower climbing.
A VLA can function as part of a personal fall arrest system to safely stop a worker's body in the event of a fall, but it is more commonly used in fall restraint scenarios to limit a worker's reach from an anchor point, thereby avoiding fall hazards entirely.
The Malta Dynamics temporary vertical assembly lifelines are crafted from the strongest safety equipment on the market today. The 3-strand poly-rope is reinforced for durability, boasting a minimum breaking strength of 5,000 lbs. and supporting a worker weight range of 130-310 lbs.
This poly-rope is UV resistant and meets the lifeline rope specifications set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). It is terminated by stitching with a plastic cap and features self-locking alloy steel snap hooks for quick and reliable attachment to an anchor.
The poly-rope connects seamlessly with a rope grab positioning device, which acts as the connector between the full body harness and the poly-rope. The rope grab must be locked into position to effectively avoid fall hazards.
The Malta Dynamics rope grab is operated manually, equipped with an 18” extension lanyard and a shock pack. This built-in shock absorption pack dissipates force on the body if a fall is arrested, adding a premium feature to the extension lanyard.
The Malta Dynamics VLA has been rigorously tested to meet the strict vertical lifeline requirements of OSHA and ANSI standards, including:
- OSHA 1926 Subpart M
- OSHA 1910
- ANSI Z359.1-07
